New Grisly Image of Ryan Gosling from Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES

First of all, no, that is not the new image of Ryan Gosling from Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives. But hold on! We’ve kept the new image after the jump since it’s a little spoiler-y. The above image is the first one we brought to you in February and trust me when I say that Gosling looks much worse off in the new shot. It only makes sense, since the violence of Only God Forgives has been reported to surpass that of Gosling and Refn’s previous collaboration, Drive. In this film, Gosling plays Julian, the owner of a Thai boxing club that has strong connections within the criminal underworld. The film also stars Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient) as Gosling’s mob-boss mother. Hit the jump to see the new image and read up on the official synopsis of Only God Forgives.

Here’s the official synopsis for Only God Forgives (also a touch SPOILER-Y for my tastes:

Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.

When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand.

Julian’s mother Jenna – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.

Increasingly obsessed with the Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match, hoping that by defeating him he might find spiritual release… but Chang triumphs. A furious Jenna plots revenge and the stage is set for a bloody journey through betrayal and vengeance towards a final confrontation and the possibility of redemption.

First Look at Scenes from Woody Allen’s TO ROME WITH LOVE

An Italian news segment has provided a glimpse at some of the scenes in Woody Allen‘s To Rome with Love.  Per the synopsis: “The film is comprised of four separate vignettes and tells the story of a number of people in Italy—some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors—and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into.”  The movie will be Allen’s first starring role since Scoop, and you can catch a brief moment of him being his familiar neurotic character on an airplane.  There are also a few quick scenes featuring Roberto Benigni and Penelope Cruz.  The Italian reporter is talking over most of the scenes, but if you can’t wait for a new look at the latest Allen film, this is for you.

Meet the Chimera from WRATH OF THE TITANS in this Creature Featurette

We’re a little more than a week out from the release of Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to 2010's Clash of the Titans. You may have noticed from the images and trailers released for the movie so far that Wrath has no shortage of mythological creatures wreaking havoc and making life a living Hell for our heroes. With all of those beasties vying for screen time, it’s tough to pick out just which one is responsible for all that destruction. Take for instance, the fireball pictured above, which comes courtesy of one of the more bizarre creatures from Greek mythology, the Chimera. This new creature featurette will teach you everything you need to know should you find yourself up against the fearsome fire-breather.

Wrath of the Titans stars Sam Worthington, Edgar Ramirez, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Nighy, Rosamund Pike, Toby Kebbell and Danny Huston. The sequel opens in 3D on March 30th. Hit the jump to check out the featurette.

A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Worthington) –the demigod son of Zeus (Neeson)–is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Ben Walker Talks ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER and Stephen Frears’ MUHAMMAD ALI’S GREATEST FIGHT at WonderCon 2012

At this past weekend’s WonderCon, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter director Timur Bekmambetov, star Ben Walker and writer Seth Grahame-Smith showed off a new trailer and an extended section of a big action set piece that featured all the principal cast.  If you missed Dave’s recap of the panel, click here.  You can also watch the new trailer here.

Shortly before the panel, I got to sit down with Walker for an extended interview.  We talked about his reaction to the footage he’s seen, what it was like to work with Bekmambetov, what kind of research he did to play Abraham Lincoln, how the 3D be used, and he talks about a particularly gory reshoot and his favorite action scene in the movie.  In addition, with Walker getting ready to film Stephen Frears’ Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, he revealed who he plays and how excited he is to work his Christopher Plummer.  Hit the jump to watch.
